Yep, that's right... I've officially lost 25 lbs. Since the end of January. And the cool thing is, the weight is staying off. I think I've still got about 10 lbs to go, or so, but I'm VERY pleased with the progress so far! As you can see with the photos below, I have a good reason to feel good about the change!
Here's a photo of me in the Fall of 2006...
And here's a photo of me today...
Last night, my wife and went to the gym after putting the kids to bed. It was cool. We got to talk for about 20 minutes on the way there, and 20 minutes on the way back. She was able to do her pool laps and then sit in the hottub and then take a shower. I was able to spend 30 minutes on the treadmilll, pounding out about 2.5 miles (or so) and over 400 calories. Then I moved to the freeweights and did some abs.
I even ran into the Club Sales Rep that originally signed Charlotte and I up two years ago. His name happens to be Mike, too. Mike Stocich, actually, and he's about to open up another, newer, bigger 24-Hour Fitness Sport club in another area of Sacramento. If you've ever thought of joining a gym in the Sacto area, or even get a multi-club membership, the beginning of June will be the time to do it. Let me know if you're interested! I will put you in touch with Mike, and he'll take care of you.
Anyway, I have come to really love my time at the gym. It feels great knowing that you're steadily increasing your overall fitness. I can feel the fat going away, and the muscle increasing. My posture is beginning to improve, and my cardiovascular stamina has certainly increased. It's a wonderful feeling. God made us wonderfully and fearfully, and you really begin to feel that when you train and discipline your body. The rewards are certainly there to be had!
Still working on finding those abs. But the 'fat curtain' is slowly being raised. I think most of the internal fat (behind the ab muscles) is gone. Now, it's just getting rid of the surface fat. Pray for me. :-)
Show us something you did, made, saw or bought this past weekend.
I bought (actually, received it in the mail) this..

What is your current obsession(s)?
Submitted by eijsr. My current obsession is finding how often I can get myself to the gym during the week.
It's been a little over a month now, and I've seem to have lost somewhere upwards of 15 lbs. now. I'm feeling MUCH better than I was before. However, I still have room for improvement. The good thing is, I'm convinced it's actually happening. My face has thinned out some, my waist is reasonably proportionate, and I've offically gone down from a 38 waist size to a 36. Even in many of my 36's, I feel like they're a little roomy. Could just be the particular fit and style ;p I am noticing more definition in my arms and legs. Its the torso that seems to be the last bastion of needless fat. But the siege rages on!
I started at 225 lbs., and I'm down to just under 210 lbs. A good friend of mine, who I work out with, and happens to be a trainer, said that he thinks I should be able to get down to about 195 lbs (or a buck 95, as he puts it), and that would be the right weight for me. I've added meat back into my diet, but I'm trying to be careful with that, too. Not too much fatty meat. In truth, I think I've made a long-term eating lifestyle adjustment.
People ask me what my goal is, and I tell them, "I want to know what my abs look like; I've never seen them before!" I believe that is a good goal, as it's not focused so much on weight as it is on definition and healthy BMI. Which reminds me, I need to get that checked! I promise I'm not anorexic. I'm eating very healthy and exercising, not throwing up or skipping meals, etc. Just in case anyone was worried. :)
Edited: Once I can see my abs, I think I'll throw a party on Vox. I will report to you all once they're visible.
